The owner, Scott Hodson, realized his love for the landscape industry as a seasonal laborer in college. He started as a summer crew member assisting in the installation of custom residential landscapes at a design/build firm in Indiana, where he grew up. Scott quickly moved into a design role in his second year with the company. After two years as an installer and one year as a designer, he went on to graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science in Landscape Architecture degree from Purdue University in 2002. At that time he moved to Fort Collins with his lovely wife, Melissa. Prior to establishing his own business, he worked at several Landscape Architectural firms along the Front Range for ten years. During that time he gained valuable experience in both design and construction. He also realized that he wanted less time in an office behind a computer and more time in the field. One of the things Scott loves most about what he does is seeing a design go from a piece of paper to an actual built environment.
Scott has a passion for the outdoors and loves spending time exploring the natural environment. He is an avid hiker and active in the community as a volunteer for an organization called Poudre Wilderness Volunteers where he educates backcountry enthusiasts about being a good steward of the environment. His professional experience along with his passion for the natural environment have blended to create the foundation for Grounded Landscape Designs which was established in 2011.
In all of his work, he is continuously reminded of the opportunity that exists when you bring together a design vision and a team with a passion towards a common goal. The business continues to flourish because each employee strongly believes in what they do. Scott and his team excel at translating client goals during the design process into a built project that is perfect and unique for each homeowner. Scott appreciates each opportunity to work with a new client. He takes each project very seriously because he realizes that the client has put their trust in him to create a built environment that meets and exceeds their needs.
